I went down to the 3-year old kiddie pond today for first bite. They were picky but I kept changing out lures until one worked, then would change again once it didn't. The most successful lure was a kokanee green/pink dick nite but I pinched the barb so it was a bit of a challenge and I lost a few.
The cormorants were relentless - they came in like a giant naval armada and the fish were freaked. As long as they were in the area, the bite was off and it took a few minutes for the fish to calm down until they started biting again.
The best catch of day was pretty funny. I saw a bright green stringer in the water with a large fish attached. I looked closely and the fish was still breathing, so he must have swam away & ended up there to rest. I rummaged through my tackle box until I found a barbless kastmaster. I threw it out and got the stringer ring on the 1st cast and pulled the fish in! :)
Got my limit by 10:30 with an extra stringer to boot!
