Went to Fourth of July this morning. After the fog lifted the roads weren't too bad.
There were about 6 cars in the parking lot when I arrived at about 9 AM. Hiked to the
middle of the lake to find open water. The ice is thin and cloudy - not safe yet.
Caught a nice 16" bow in about an hour and found I didn't bring a stringer - nice.
I tied the fish up with some leader and left him in the net at the edge of the water.
I landed a 2nd about 1/2 hr later and was done for the day with 2 over 14". It was a beautiful day,
bright and sunny with little wind. Both fish were caught on a worm with some orange powerbait
about 18" off the bottom, out as far as I could throw it from shore. I was on the East side.
The quality of the fish are very good - dark red and firm.
