Wow, what a difference a week makes!!! Took a limit home a week ago, only one today. Arrived at the lake at 7:00 AM, lines in the water by 7:20, partly cloudy, temp at 50 degrees at the outset. Water temp at the northeast shoreline was 48 degrees. Began with fl. orange Power Eggs on one rig, chartreuse on the other. A couple subtle hits early, then nothing as the sun rose higher. Tried everything in the tackle bag, all my baits (worms, shrimp, Power Baits), tried spin casting several offerings... NADA!!! Sky grew more cloudy and breeze began to blow out of the south by 10:00. Finally, had a solid hit about 11:00 and reeled in a beautiful 14" Rainbow. These fish are really beautiful and very feisty.
Fish seem to be scattered and obviously far fewer than a few of weeks ago, but was surprised at the lack of action. Perhaps a tell-tale indicator is the absence of the large flocks of Cormorants on the lake now. Left the lake about 1:00, things to do in the afternoon! Wishing everyone a very happy and blessed Christmas Season! PTL!
