Back out to try our luck on second to last day of the year... hit up ol' Green Lake again! Met friend, Pete at 7:00 AM, fishing the north shoreline again... Pete's "hunny hole"! Temp at outset was a very chilly 27 degrees, not a breeze... lake a flat calm. Water temp at shoreline was 46 degrees. Lines in the water a bit after 7:00... fishing Power Eggs on both rigs, 3' leaders... started off with the fl. orange because of darkness. First hit at 7:30 and reeled in a nice 13" Rainbow. Pete and I took turns the first hour, by 8:30 we each had landed two Rainbows in the 13" range... then the action stopped. Seems that as the sun rises higher and lights up the sky, the fish stop biting. We threw everything in our tackle boxes at 'em... couldn't buy a hit. About noon, half a dozen other fishermen showed up in our area... Pete left about 1:00... I stayed the course. About 3:30 I finally had a solid hit and reeled in my third, another 13" 'er. Saw three other fish landed nearby, all after 2:00 PM. Left the lake at 4:00. Two fish taken on fl. orange PE, one on chartreuse. Daytime temperature never rose above 37 degrees... bit of a breeze from the north after noon. Pretty standard Winter lake fishing in Western Washington... but still great to get out and enjoy creation! PTL!
