Lk Wash in the winter months is always a special treat. Not sure what you are going to see and yesterday was no exception. As we headed for the perch area in the cold wind saw several bass boats in deep water with the guys well bundled. Hopefully they are catching! Brrrrrrrr. We are spoiled in our warm cabin - a 25 ft Ranger Tug! Then we started the perch drift and as we released the smaller fish four eagles came screaming out from the south shore snatching those that do not go down. No matter how many times we have seen this it is still spectacular to watch those talons drop like landing gears and snag a perch. Then we were "surrounded" by 4 sailboats and the wind had died to almost 0. The spinnakers were set and displaying beautiful colors. As we watched the sailboats creep by the silence was cut by two high speed boats racing and throwing big white roosters. At 60+ we were sure they were not trolling!

Anyway, we were again chasing perch about a mile east of Seahawk training camp in 70ft of water. Catching was great but as I have mentioned in my last 2 reports the size is not there. Average size is 8 to 9 1/2 inches but we did get the biggest one so far this year - 12 1/2". If only they were all this size. We always drop shot and once in awhile a cutt hangs on and this one went 19". Kept 60 perch and with my partner removing the rib cage I can fillet two a minute with the electric knife. We stuffed two qt bags with exceptional eating fillets.
