Well I seen some good reports and knew what had to be done. Head to Chelan for the Weekend!

Friday we fished the Pateros area on the Big C. Pounded water but came up with a skunk. Talked to the fish checker at the ramp and he said he hadnt seen a fish in three days!

Saturday's game plan involved my favorite lake! We got on the water around 930. Water was calm and glassy and I wanted to start at the yatch club area. Motoring around Wapato point I noticed a really large mass on the bottom, it was a huge pile of shrimp I am guessing so we stopped and set up gear. I was running one rod on the deck for lakers and the other down rigger had three kokanee rods at 50-100' deep. I got the big fish rod almost to the bottom and it unclipped, to much thumb pressure i thought. Then it felt really heavy, Laker hits the net. In the middle of that I didnt notice the double we had on the other side of the boat. 2 15" Kokes in the net! 15 inch fish already, its gonna be a good year.

We trolled from Wapato up just passed the narrows. We averaged a lake trout about every 20 minutes and a Kokanee about every half hour. Never marked a school of Kokes. Orange seemed to be the hot color. The lakers wanted a needlefish with a smile blade in front of it. I did manage to hang a downrigger ball and had to cut the cable which was a ton of fun! And we did lose a very healthy trout that busted my 14# leader on my kokanee rigs.

Ended the day with 9 Kokanee at 15-15." and 13 cookie cutters Macks. Not a bad day for the middle of winter! Gonna give it another month or so and try it again
