3/4/2015 1:11:00 PMI recently purchased an Elite 7 also. Was ready to throw it in the lake after the first session with it, going out for the second trial tomorrow. Hope I have learned enough from reading & videos to use it more efficiently.
Your depth problem may be if you have it set on meters rather than feet.
Let me know know if you find settings that seem to work better than others. I use mine in Lake Chelan.

3/8/2015 7:00:00 PMWhen you figure out why that elite 7 does that let me know. Mine does that sometimes and is very frustrating especially when Lowrance support has been no help after numerous calls and complaints. Last time out it told me water was 45 ft. deep when I know from past history that it is closer to 100 ft where we were. Don't recommend this unit to anyone and I'm rethinking Lowrance altogether due to their lack of support for this unit although I called them the first time when it brand new.
