My son Jeremy, our two dogs, and myself began the day at about 8:00 am trolling in our float tubes (the dogs were in their little rubber raft tied to my float tube). Jeremy and I both fished with a sinking line tipped with a wine colored bead-head bugger size 12 but it was still a little cold (I had a few nips but not any solid hook-ups). I decided to switch to my light weight spinning gear with a 2" brown sparkle plastic grub on a 1/32 ounce jig head, tipped with a little bit of nightcrawler, and I immediatley started slamming them (slow troll with a twich every five or ten seconds). After four fish I switched back to my sinking line and caught and released five more. Jeremy had switched to the same jig set-up and was getting bites but couldn't get them hooked. Finally he hooks into the biggest trout of his life. It was a beautiful twenty-two inch 4+ pound rainbow. It was the biggest trout I have seen at this lake.
After Fiorito, we headed to Lenore where Jeremy ended up catching the only fish - a 23" Lahonton. What an awesome day of fishing!
