Oh what a perfect way to end my loooooooong work week. Got to the lake and it was perfect, minus the clouds and down pour. Water was smooth, surface temps are up to 53-54 degrees, and the fish finder was lit up! I got to meet another WA Laker out there. Didn't catch his name but he seemed like a really nice guy as we chatted for a bit about different techniques and such. He seemed to be doing very well out there.
I specifically targeted Kokes using a pink mini wedding ring tipped with corn. In front of that was a dick Nite pink splatter dodger. There was no need to change any of my gear as the bite was red hot. Had 4 fish in within the first 15-20 minutes. Couldn't even get my downrigger set to the right depth, they just slammed it on the drop. Anyhoo, just to kill a little more time I decided to drop a wiggle Hoochie with no bait down to 20 which produced a very healthy 16-17 inch hold over trout that I decided to release. I just can't eat trout after having the luxury of smoked kokanee. After an hour ripping that through the water I put on the wedding ring to finish my limit which didn't take long at all. I am very excited to see what these Kokes will look like in the summer. They are pushing 12 inches right now! Go get you some, tight lines!!
