I'm a little late to post... like a year but just recently jumped back on this site and would love to post about this lake. I fished it 4 times. Not once did I come back with less then 20 crappie and usually a few perch as well. All of the fish caught were healthy and the thickest crappie I had ever seen. The largest going 13.5 inches. The lake was always quiet with only a few other boaters. I would like to fish for largies next time but the crappie fishing is so fun. The launch was a bit intimidating the first go round and I had to get my feet wet to get the boat back on the trailer. Overall loved the experience I had on that lake.

Thanks for the report and bringing back some good memories. I was stationed at Fairchild in the late 70's and remember fishing a lake that had a boat launch on a creek. You had to motor upstream for quite some distance (maybe a mile or so) through a narrow channel to reach the lake. I had a 12' cartopper with a 7.5 hp air cooled JC Penny outboard (that motor never failed me). The trip to the lake was an adventure in itself. I am not sure this is the same lake but in your report you stated the launch was intimidating so I went to Goggle Maps and looked at the lake. Sure looks like it could be the lake I remember. I don't remember how many trips I made to the lake but I always caught fish and on one trip with my boss I caught 22 crappie on 22 cast. I was fly fishing and using a Carey Special fly on a sinking line. Sounds like the crappie are bigger than they were nearly 40 years ago. I live in Olympia now and don't have a boat that would fit in the creek but maybe someday I will get a chance to fish it again.
I hope you get many more chances to fish the lake and I'll look forward to seeing your reports.

I actually put the wrong year this was from last year and it makes me happy that you enjoyed my report I plan on making it back to that lake this year and I'll take more pictures of the scenery. I am in a 16ft hewescraft tiller which seems to just barely fit but I have seen more daring anglers with bigger boats make it in there.

I have fished around that area a fair amount. Cannot find that lake on google, curious about it.

Go through cheney turn right onto the road that takes you through the Turnbull refuge and towards Williams and badger lakes then take a left on long Rd you will come to a three way stop and make a right. That will take you down into the canyon towards the creek and the bridge is where you launch

I fished it April through June and only hit one tree stump in the creek I just tilted my main up and putted through took me 20 min to get through if I had a jet pump I'd get through in ten.
