I fished blackmans for a few hours sunday morning. Started off throwing spoons and spinners from shore at hill park between the docks. Got a couple hits and a brief hook up. after a few minutes of casting and retrieving with no more action, i made a radical change, and decided to set up my 3wt, with a slow sink tip. First fly i chucked was a size 8 brown wooley bugger, i stripped it pretty fast, tried long strips, short twitchy strips.. no love, another angler fishing nearby saw my fly case and told me to change over to a size 12 black caddis fly that i tied, Ok seems like a reasonable choice. i roll casted and slowly lifted my rod tip for the retrieve, sure enough, i finally started getting hits and brief hook ups again. The guy at the shore left after a few minutes. And it was like a switch went off, i started hooking and landing trout one after the other, 3 to hand within 10 minutes. First one was 10" rainbow, the next was 13" bow the 3rd was a very small cutthroat of maybe 6", after an hour or so, i had a few more hook ups and landed another small cutthroat, then i decided to call it day around 11:00 am. All fish were released to fight another day.
