This report is for Friday through Sunday morning. I camped with my family for my birthday at the state park.
Friday morning i fished from around 6-10am with only 2 bites and no fish to the boat. I was marking fish, just wasn't slingin' the right gear i guess. I went in, set up my camp, and waited for the rest of my family to arrive. After they set up camp, Kent, Breanna, and I headed out around 4pm. We did great! It was Breanna's first time fishing for kokanee, so she got several chances at catching her first, and catch she did! landing 2 and losing a few. Kent reeled in a nice 22" chinook salmon and landed another kokanee, we all had several chances as the bite was on fire. with the 4 fish in the boat, we called it after 2 hours since we certainly had enough for dinner- we went in and ate like kings.
The next morning my cousin, Chris, and his daughter Breanna, and I went out for a couple hours. We had a few bites, then Breanna reeled in her first lake-trout, an average 19" fish. The wind started to blow, so we headed back to camp just in time for breakfast.
We went out again around 4 after watching the weather all day, some short gusts and a shifting wind, a few light showers Kent and I bagged 4 more kokanee in an hour and a half. with the laker from earlier, we had caught dinner again!
Sunday morning I let everyone sleep in and sneaked out alone. I fished over in the slide area and went 1 fish for 5 bites. The fish were biting real light and it was difficult to see this morning, i even had to squint so see the bite from fish i did land. around 9am I went in, packed up camp, we all said our good-bye's 'til next time, and i was home around 1pm.
A lot of fish and bites, again, came from around 75' down. The Chinook came from 120' and a few other kokanee biters came from 100-120'.
The newly re-furbished camp sites at the south end of the park are sure coming along, and looks like they will be some really nice places for camping.
