I went to Lost Lake along with my two pooches yesterday, after reading Fish and Wildlife had planted it. I love catch and release, but my Kastmasters revealed no luck -- not to mention the Lake is extremely weedy, already! I guess this is a result of our mild winter, but at nearly 4000 feet, I was still surprised. Milfoil is popping up everywhere! Anyways, after switching to power eggs, the bite was on! I limited out very fast, and caught one surprise 17 inch, nearly two pound carryover. She should be good eating, the meat is the color of salmon!

So the key to yesterday was power eggs of any color, casted into the deeper areas of the lake. I had no luck fishing the rim of the lily pads that surround the lake.

There was one negative part of the day. In trying to reel the big one through the weeds and land it, the hook ended up in my dog (Bailey's) ear. She didn't even seem to notice, and went right back to swimming, chewing on sticks and running around, so I finished up my limit. The hook would not come out back at home, and I was left with a 320 dollar vet bill. That's why I'm rating it a four. It was a very costly fishing venture. On the flip side, the hook is out and she's doing very well.
