It's no secret the fishing is hot on Sprague. Tons of boats and even more shore fisherman. The wind got a little nasty for about an hour but otherwise not too bad. We ended with 11. 2 were about 12 inches which we released and the rest were 16 - 18. Nice healthy fish. Good fighters with quite a few of them jumping out of the water. Bob was our killer who not only caught his limit but were also the 5 biggest fish. He's not invited next time.

Can someone explain to me why the rainbow trout released into Sprague Lake are being called Steelhead.
Steelhead are Sea-Run rainbow trout. I doubt that these fish have been to the ocean & back. Just curious.
Thanks for any insight.

Because they are from Puget sound area hatchery and supposed to be steelhead , it has no actual meaning.just a slang term from eastern , wa. They are trout , a bunch have spawned in the lake.people seem to be showing up expecting a good steely fight eheh

Thanks Joshrem! That is what I kind of thought. If they were true Steelhead, I think a punch card would be in order. I think
they were Steelhead smolt, so everyone over here started to call them Steelhead. Regardless, it helps the fishery.
Any Help Making the Fishery Better in Eastern Washington is a PLUS. Tight Lines!!
