At 4:00 am the alarm goes off and I hit the snooze, seven times. Well needless to say I arrived at the launch later than I had planned in plan A. Plan B was, let’s just see what I can catch using up the gas in the kicker motor so I can switch out the gas tank. Then start the big motor to see how it runs. There is a front coming in so fishing might not be as good as I hoped anyway.
I started fishing a little after 7 am. It took about 20 minutes before I had the first take down. It was a very nice trout which I let go. After a few minutes, I texted my neighbors to see if they liked Sundays trout. They did and I asked if they wanted any more since I was out fishing. They said yes, one. It was another half hour or so before I got it for them. This was all while trolling on the Veterans side going toward the North Launch. I turned toward the island then circled back toward North launch again. This is where I hooked into another large trout. It was a fighter and may have been 15 inches. I let it go. When I got into 50 foot of water I turned back toward the Veterans area. I played with the camera a bit and then put it down and got a double. Well that was 5 trout and it took me a couple hours to get them. These trout fight well and have some heft to them. But they aren't kokanee…
I had one downrigger between 25 and 40 feet most of the time. The other one was 14-19 feet which is where the trout were hanging out. The deep one had 2 bumps but that was it.
The clouds started to come in about 9am and a breeze with them. Water temp was 58 degrees and the air temperature was 56.
