Fished the derby with BassPlayer17 and had a consistently productive day. We started down low but after an hour moved up lake and found the fish. We caught fish (and each other) all day, ending our day with 17 in the box. We had our best day so far this year but also our worst getting tangled up when going straight. Nothing seemed to help until we finally just went down to two rods but then noticed the bite slowed not having as much attraction in the water. Day one ended with our boat solidly in 5th and if our past trips held true where the second day was more productive, we would have moved up the leader board. Dead-ass tired from only two hours sleep the night before we headed back to our room. I cleaned the first days catch while my buddy got some well earned zzz's.
Having filleted all the fish and ready for day 2 I sat on the bed and that is the last thing I remember. I woke up a couple hours later with my phone in my hand and feet still on the floor but must have just rolled into bed because our wake-up call came from another boat asking where we were fishing....well this is awkward. It's now about 6:30 I think and we bust our butts to get packed up and to the launch - on the water at about 7:45 and motor back up lake to the same spot. We couldn't get into a groove and only boated three fish Sunday but the weather was awesome and the event a total success. Thank you to Jayson from Something Catchy for putting on a great event.
