It was a beautiful day to fish Cady Lake, partly sunny with a light wind. Choronomids were hatching off and on all day and the fish rose sporadically. The water temperature was around 42 degrees and maybe 6-8 people were on the water. Started around 9AM and finished around 2PM. The fish were a little fickle, took most fish off of the top with emergers or right under the surface with non-weighted chronies. Tried to suspend some right off the bottom with no luck, maybe I didn't have the right depth or size, who knows the fish just didn't like it though. Caught 7/8 rainbows with the biggest at around 28 inches, but caught that one pulling a mini leech at 14 feet of water in between hatches. Cady Lake is a great place to fish, where could you get a reasonable shot at 10 pound fish without traveling hundreds of miles or paying hundreds of dollars. I'm not saying you'll catch one every time out, but since the three years I've fished this lake I caught at least one around that size !
every year. I thank Larry for giving us this wonderful fishery, it's easily worth any small donation to fish this lake.
