My youth pastor from church and I set out today around 3:00PM looking for some big trout. When we got there, there was only 2 other people on the lake, and with us, it made 4. Was the first time for me launching my brand new float tube, and I loved the tube to death. Fishing was very very slow. No one caught on the lake caught a thing. We stayed until about 7:00PM. I fished wooly buggers, ants, humpys, but no fish. 1/2 an hour before we left there was some mosquitoes coming off (sz 16-18) as well as some tiny light light olive colored flies size 22 or smaller. Tied on a size 18 Adams dry. After my 4th cast had a heart pounding strike from a fish that looked about 17" or larger. Came out of the water and slammed my little adams. Bad luck for me, I was so excited that I set the hook as soon as I saw the splash, I doubt the fish even got the fly in it's mouth. My bad :( Saw some fish rising every once and while to the mosquitoes. Saw a big osprey take a nice fish from the big rock across the water from the launch. Was a great day to be on the water. I'll be back for sure, especially since it's been doing really well lately, it's just that today was a slow day :( BTW, drop a few $$$ into the donation box. I wouldn't want to see this lake die.
