It was a beautiful day on the lake. My son and I fished
from 10 to 4, hooked up 10 times, landing 8 between 14" - 20". He used
various woolly bugger patterns with olive being the most effective
fished near bottom and stripped back. I used chironomid
patterns. I started with a green blood worm and took a fish
on the first few retrieves. Then I got smart and switched
to pupa patterns and did nothing for several hours. Finally, I
switched back to the blood worm and took two fish on four retrieves
just before heading for home. I've been working hard at building
some skill with chironomids. A little feedback from the fish
certainly helps. Cady Lake is a great fishery for South Sound fly casters.
