first time fishing Tanwax and was very pleased. 5 total fish. No scale but if I had to guess I would say three of them were in the 1.5 to 2 lb range and two of them were 3 lb. All fish were hugged in tight to the shore on the inside edge of weeds and lily pads. Caught on Senko in watermelon w/purple flake and Berkley Havoc Pit Boss. The last fish although not the biggest was the most fun to catch. I cast parallel to shoreline approx 3 ft from shore, bait landed on lily pad. I twitched it once just to get bait to fall in between pads and there was a big swirl of water and HOOK SET. Thankfully I holding my only rod that had braid on it (I'm not a huge fan of braid) because I needed the extra strength to horse 'em out of all that crap. After landing the fish for a quick photo and releasing, I called it a day. Looking forward to heading back out there later in the week, mostly because I only fished a small portion of the lake, and would like to see what else is out there

Nice haul for your first trip. Plenty of that size out there, Tanwax is one of my favorite bass lakes. Wooden docks to the left of Rainbow Resort usually hold a few also. Couple of nicer sized ones REALLY like that flat, abandoned concrete dock with the broken dive platform. Just don't get snagged on the metal cross pipes underneath. Also try the shoreline and weeds/pads next to the two BIG houses with the huge grass lawns. (They're over by that single giant redwood tree, their dogs like to watch people fish!) If you're accurate in casting into tight spaces, pitch underneath any of the covered boat houses and hold on! Frog lures, stick baits, shallow cranks and unweighted creature baits all work good for me here. You'll be catching 5+ pounders soon...C & R and tight lines!
