The day started kinda crappy. When I got to the lake I discovered that someone had stolen my transom tie-downs while I had a few beverages after fishing the night before. I didn't discover this until I had driven 20 miles and was ready to launch my boat. I normally check everything when I hook up my boat, but I'd left it hooked up to the truck and didn't go through my normal routine (lesson learned----in a few ways). Luckily I had a spare strap in my truck.
I hit the lake about 9:00 and fished until just after 1:00. I brought the first fish to the boat within ten minutes. I caught and released a total of 18 trout varying in size from 10"-13". I did see a fly fisherman in a pontoon boat catch a 21" trout. I was dragging a purple Mack's Smiley Blade Fly all day (no pop-gear), the only time a switched was from the one I wore out to a new purple one (I've nicknamed it the Panther Lake Purple Predator). The best spots were a slow troll in an L-pattern along the South and West shorelines.
