After a fateful evening at Long Lake yesterday (see other report) I decided to go to Island Lake for the first time. Got there around 1 pm, launched my kayak and set off to find some bass. Since I've never been to this lake before I wanted to try and find some kind of pattern. Started by dropshotting a 6'' roboworm in Aaron's Magic color around docks, specifically the shade around the docks. Managed to catch 3 bass that way. The 3rd one flopped away before I could snap a pic. Oh well. There aren't a lot of docks at this lake so after I ran through them I tried pitching a craw at the edges of pads and structure. Only got 1 bite and I missed the fish. That one bite ripped both the claws off my craw and ruined the bait too. I had to leave after a couple hours so I couldn't go through the docks again. It was a nice day on the water despite the missed fish and hundred of blue dragonflies swarming.
