Got a late start from Spokane, arriving at Potholes State Park about noon, in the water about 12.30 pm. Headed over to the tree line just south and east of Crab Creek and settled in about 15 feet of water. Never did I think with a surface temp of 74 degrees under bright sun there would be anything there .... but there was. Chartruese Wally Pop on one rod and a Chartruese Spin N Glo on the other. First Walleye hit after about 10 minutes - 6 lbs, second one hit after 20 minutes - another 6 lbs, third one - 8 lbs. All in all, five that were too big to keep, one for dinner, one rainbow, one smallmouth and a couple of dinks. Spouse couldn't believe it - had never seen walleye like this. Off the water by 5.30 pm.
As Banks lake has been good but too many "sardines" may continue to look at Potholes. The State Park was great and the ramp better than at Banks. Had to cut this trip short but will head back when it cools off.
To summarize:
Chartruese WallyPop with Slow Death Hook behind 1 oz bottom bouncer
Chartruese Spin N Glow with Slow Death Hook behind 1 oz bottom bouncer
Trolled at 0.8 mph with electric in 15 feet of water
Water temp 74.5
Sunny day.
