Rough morning at Sammamish. Overcast, and warm water. I'm thinking, hey, lets try to get that first topwater fish. Wish water was a bit smoother, but oh wells. Started chucking it around. I must have hit something with it, because after about 10 mins, I noticed it swimming funny. I look at it closer and see the backend is cracked. Bummer, since it was brand new.

It gets gusty here and there.

First fish is a dink on a DS.

I continue moving around trying to force myself to use the topwater. Even though it was cracked, it worked good enough for the most part. At times, it would swim funny. Superglue didn't hold.

Mixed in swimbait, crank and jerkbait. The wind is really whipping. Whenever I had an opportunity, I would use the DS. Rotated a tube into the mix. Had a few strikes. Caught a couple of more dinks.

2 hours later, I finally get an ok fish on a DS. A little chunkster weighing 1.74lb.

Not too much longer, I get another one. A better fish, 2.49lb on DS.

The wind is still whipping. But I managed another DS fish. I thought I had on a tank. It was digging and pulling. Looked fat and bigger than the previous fish, but only weighed 2.38lb.


Moved around a bit, and manage a few more small ones. A couple right at 1# and just under in the .75# range.

Decided to head back to launch, but on the way, I figure I'll try to get that one that chased earlier in the day but didn't commit. As I'm working my way there, I caught 5 in 15 mins. Only 2 were decent. Barely above the 2# mark. The other 3 were .5-1#ers.

On way back in, the sun started to shine through. The wind died down. Was a bit disappointed I had to go in.

My modified scale works great.

Saw the Big Mean Green. I wonder how he did.
