Long time lurker, first time posting. Got to the lake about 7, put in the boat. Already a handful of people on the launch fishing. Hadn't been to this lake in a while. Started out trolling a night crawler and a med split shot, on one rod, long line about 80 yards back. Other rod, a small dodger, wedding ring, tipped with night crawler, about 35 pulls back. Nada at first, no surface strikes either. Water felt like bath water, nice and warm. Adjusted my weights abit to get down near the bottom. Boom, consistent after that, a lot of drive bys. Missed a few, one broke me off, a few self released at the boat. Mostly stockers except one holdover, nice fish. Didn't have a tape, but guess work of my shoe puts it at 18". Hits on both rods, equal action. Slowed down the higher the sun got. Took a bit to get my limit with the sun. Off the lake within 3 hours. Catch and release all mouth hooked and released unharmed.

I'm a big fan of the sport, and do all my trout fishing on ultralight gear. It puzzles me to see others, today everybody, using heavy 10 foot rods for trout? Doesn't seem like much fun to me? Tight lines.

I use 8.5 Koke rods for the same reason. Super light action
