6/29/2015 7:47:00 AMNicely done. The large bait fish is very likely a juvenile sockeye (probably pre-smolt). The sockeye are abundant in the lake, should be about that size this time of year and tend to get gobbled by cutts and most everything else. A cutt that size would probably still be living in a creek and wouldn't be as silvery.

6/29/2015 10:24:00 AMI agree the bait fish is a Kokanee too. The tail looks forked like a salmon. And the eye is large and gold in color. Indicative of sockeye or Kokanee..if you catch Kokanee out there you might as well keep it if it is under 15 inches. They eat good and the amount the sport fishers actually catch and can keep is even less than the tribes are allowed to keep in their " ceremonial " harvest of fish during a non season. It ain't going to effect the run or having a sport season at all.

6/29/2015 12:28:00 PMThe pike minnows unfortunately eat many salmon, steelhead, and cutthroat fry. Rewards or bounties are paid for catching pike minnows in the Columbia river.

6/29/2015 12:44:00 PMGiven that the WDFW isn't having a lot of success in re-establishing a consistent Sockeye run, why not start a pike minnow bounty program like the Columbia. But I assume that money is the problem. The Columbia program prob gets some federal money. I'd be willing to pay some extra bucks on my license for a Lake Wash validation that would fund a bounty.

6/29/2015 6:17:00 PMTroutFinatic, I use a manual downrigger with a C- clamp made by cannon. Cheap, but gets the job done and also is the perfect size for my toon.

7/1/2015 3:53:00 PMVery nice cutts! BARCHASER, the Columbia River pike minnow bounty is paid by Bonneville Power - at least a good portion of it - as a stipulation for having all those dams on the river. No such dams on Lake WA. Have to figure out something else. I'd pay extra on my license too.

7/2/2015 8:06:00 PMvery nice set up there, good for bass and all other. awesome fishing. you should come check out Green lake in that and get some triploids that were put in for fathers day.I got one last week 2lbs but a few smaler ones on Kast masaters off the bank. you would do good there with that although you are on some good fish as is.
