I knew weather was going to toasty, so just hoping for a couple of decent hours out on the water. Spotted the Green Beast. I'm thinking I'm going to make my way up to the north end and see if I can catch anything.
2nd thing I noticed at the launch is how clear the water is compared to a couple of weeks ago. As I'm making my way up north, I decide to pull up to one of my honey holes. 1st cast, I miss the fish. 2nd cast, nothing. 3rd cast, fish on! Put up a good fight. ~1.5#, the one in the picture.
A few minutes later, another bass! Another roughly the same weight. This fish was maybe an inch longer, but very skinny. I drift a little bit, but fish the same general area. BAM! Another fish. Another ~1.5#. Continue fishing the hole and woot, 1 more! ~1.75#.
So in the first 20 mins, landed 4 keepers. I saw another chaser on the last bass. I continued fishing the area for another 20 mins, but no more bass. Just felt small nips and follows from perch.
I make my way up north expecting to see AMX. I get there by 9:30AM, but I don't see anyone fishing up in that area. Saw several south by the peninsula with the helicopter though. Fished the treeline. Caught a ~1# by the sunken boat lift. Textbook spot. Expect a fish to be there, and there it was. Too bad it wasn't bigger. Still remember the 3+lb a couple of years ago, when I was using a small swimbait. Dragged the line over it and pop it and let it sink. *sigh*
There's a lot of baitfish up in the north end. Saw tons of perch and bluegills.
As I'm making my way south along the treeline, 2 boats pulled up to the north end and started fishing there. I wonder how they did.
Moved around a bit back and forth across the lake. Caught a couple 5" LMB and SMB off the same dock. The LMB felt much bigger, bc it wrapped my line around some pads. When it broke loose, the fish came flying out of the water towards me, LOL.
Caught another 1.75+lb SMB on a spot where I would expect a fish to be hiding. Had a chaser, but couldn't find it.
I wanted to go back to my honeyhole, but as I'm heading there, saw another boat fishing it, so kept moving. Fished a couple more areas, but it's getting pretty hot out and lots of people on the water. As I'm packing up, I see my sonar light up in 51' of water, with a few large marks nearby.
Used the DS to get down there and waited. Caught me a couple of jumbo perch. Too hot, called it quits. Started off red hot, but in a different sense, ended red hot. So caught 5 ok bass. Several more smaller and dinks. Nothing over 2#.
2nd picture is of a smaller bass, but I really like the color of it.
