Fished Baker the last 3 days pretty hard with disappointing results, but thats fishing. We arrived opening day around 6am, launched the boat and parked at our camp site. First day we lost 3, and caught 3 sockeye and 1 kokanee. Also released a huge dolly i believe. 2 fish came from the noisy creek side and the last came from the swift creek side 45-60ft deep. Saturday we trolled from 8-11am then 6-9pm with no hookups. Sunday we trolled from 6am to 10am with only 1 hook up that we lost. Opening day I saw the most fish caught. Saturday and sunday I only saw 5 or 6 fish caught each time out. Lots of boats, and very few fish being caught. Average seemed to be 2 fish or less per boat for the people we talked to. With the # of fish in the lake I was expecting alot better fishing. Water temp was 72-74 degrees all weekend.

Your post is similar to others about the fishing being kind of hit and miss. I haven't fished baker in several years but am seriously thinking of a camping fishing trip. Any suggestions on camping where it isn't Grand Central? Are there any coves or more private areas you would recommend? Thanks and ((((((Fish On))))))

Ive never done it, but I did see a lot of boats anchored up on various shorelines that were camping out in the woods. I believe you would still need to pay overnight parking for your rig ($9), but camping in woods might be free. Swift creek campground wasn't really that bad when we were there even though it was opening weekend. By the time I woke up, ate breakfast and got the boat down to the launch (6am) the fleet had already launched... I felt like I was the last one out there. Hell, we had a thunder storm Saturday morning, and that didn't stop guys from launching out at 3am in the middle of it.
