I am giving this day a 4 rating due to the number of take downs and I give myself a 0 on my ability to actually land a fish.

Launched out of Magnusson at about 6:45am and ran over to in front of Kirkland. We pulled off the water at 11:15am. During that time we had 10 fish on, and only got two into the boat. Was super frustrating. We just could not keep them buttoned up for some reason.

Fishing with a Sepps chartreuse with pink splatter dodger followed by chartreuse and pink dick nite on one side, Dick Nite dodger in gradient from green to pink followed by a pink z-ray on the other. 40' down, 100' behind the clip. Trolling at 1.4 - 1.9 mph on the GPS.

Whether it was myself or my lady, we just could not land a fish. Had a couple do some jumps and shake the hooks which was pretty cool. Couple popped right at the boat.

Were you using a rubber snubber between your Dodger and lure? That makes a huge difference for me, I lose very few fish due to the snubber taking the shock out of the sudden tugs of the fish. Give it a try and let me know how that works for you. Tight lines.

Unlike salmon and early season trout, these summer fish don't drive the hook point home very well when they take a lure. I use pretty solid releases and if the fish doesn't pop the line themselves, I'll set the hook after releasing the line from the clip. As fun as it is to see the fish jump, this is a sure fire way to lose them. Sometimes it can't be helped, but many times keeping your rod tip down, in the water, will prevent a fish from jumping and throwing the hook.

Hey flyfisherguy - I was not using a snubber. If I am specifically targeting kokanee, I definitely put one on, but with trout I haven't used them in the past. Maybe I will give that a shot and see if it helps out.

G-Man - Yeah, I buried the line in the release to try to help with hooksets. Additionally we tried everything with rod position, setting the hook, etc. Sometimes the fish win and on this day, we got dominated.

I did replace the hook on the Dick Nite after the trip... that little spoon has been super productive and been through quite a few fish so hopefully that will help.

Hey thanks for the report. I was out there Sunday morning and did really well. I lost my iphone6 though which really sucks. It fell in the drink. Anyways, I use the double hooked rigs and that usually has a 90% hook up percentage. I do lose a few do to using a small release but that second hook really gets the job done. Tight lines
