Went up to curlew for the weekend with the family for some musky fishing. Friday was rough with the wind trolled 5-25 fow with no luck. Got up Saturday to a beautiful morning got on the water and casted to weed beds and sharp breaks, saw one 40+ but it wasn't interested. Trolled more plugs and nothing. Went back and unloaded all of the musky gear and grabbed wife and kids to go swimming. After a couple of hours they wanted to go bass fishing so pulled up to a shallow weed bed, while getting the kids setup my youngest daughter yelled out what is that laying in the bottom. Guess what a 40+ tiger just laying belly to bottom in the weeds. I had no musky gear no net. So all I could do was grab my 6' med bass rod with 12lb test and hope for the best. I casted several times to it with a xrap and it didn't move a muscle. So last ditch all I had was a wildeye. Thru it out and bumped it on the snout and WHAM! It sucked it in and fight was on. After carefully fighting the fish and several trips around the boat and airborne acrobats I was able to tail that fish unhook, snap some pics then send it on its way. Well worth the effort.
