10/9/2015 2:12:00 PMI've heard that about Walleye, my dad always said they were the most pointless fish to fish for. We pretty much only catch and release so it's all about the battle! I've never fished for Walleye, but to me Kokanee are right up there on the no fight scale. Boring.

10/10/2015 11:37:00 AMdwh4784 - I don't know where you fished for Kokanee, but you clearly haven't had them go ballistic and start doing gymnastics both in and out of the water. Couple that with their soft mouths and if you land better than 50% of the Kokanee you hook, you are doing good. Can't speak to Walleye, never fished for them, but as one who has lost many a Kok due to their antics and unwillingness to be netted, I would have to humbly disagree.

10/10/2015 1:08:00 PMI've only fished for them twice, once on the Dworshak reservoir trolling with so many flashers on (think they called it a jackaloid) that you could not tell there was a fish on after hooking one, and the other time on Loon Lake night fishing using tiny ice fishing rods. Both experiences netted plenty of fish but just not my thing sorry. I'm sure there must be other methods, and probably much larger fish, so it's possible/likely that my opinion of them is just off from two lame experiences.

They really are challenging to catch sometimes and I have lost many just feet from the net. I see from your profile that it appears you are from the eastside. There are quite a few lakes over there that have good kokanee fishing. If I ever get the chance to fish over there (probably next spring at the earliest), I may throw you an invite if you are interested.
