I was wandering around Cle Elum on my day off looking for some fishing, but there are big signs up on the Cle Elum river that you can't fish due to salmon spawning. I found Cooper lake around 3:30 and eagerly got my raft ready. I have wanted to try out this lake for quite a while and it is very scenic. Unfortunately the fishing was not, but when the water is cold I rarely have good luck. It was cloudy and the water temp was 55.

I fished for maybe an hour with spoons and spinners at different depths with no bites. I know that when the lakes cool off the fish are supposed to go to the bottom, so probably if I had more time and covered more of the lake I could have caught something. Usually when I have caught fish in fall it's near the bottom of the lake and I don't think I got deeper than 20-30 feet yesterday.

Had anyone else fished here in the fall?
