Hi Everyone:

Jeff has been pounding away, prospecting for Kokanee and catching the Laker of a lifetime while I have been off the grid enjoying the best of Baja.

This report covers from 1/7/to 1/12.

Fishing for Mack's in the Barrens can produce big fish. See the big fish picture! Work Jeff drifts at 1.1 mph within 5 feet of the bottom in depths of 150 to 250 feet.

The winter Kokanee are the big story. These mostly 13 to 15 inch fish are available from Colyar ledge uplake. Sonar is almost a necessity as these fish can be suspended from 40 to 250 feet deep over bottoms as varied as 100 to 500 feet. Mack's Lures mini cha cha's baited with Pautzke's Fire Corn is our go to lure. Speeds of 1 to 2 mph will trigger the fish.

This is a great time to shake the cabin fever. You can go to the Sportsman Shows and talk about fishing or you can layer up and come to Chelan and fish. Weather is variable, but we are mostly going to have hi's in the 30's and lows in the 20's for a while. Also, our Winter Special will be avaiable into February.

Beautiful kokanee! Is Colyar ledge uplake of Mitchell Creek? I've always wondered where it's located. Thanks

I have come to call Colyar Ledge the area above the Narrows but below Mitchell Creek / 25 Mile Creek. Starting at depths of about 180 to 200 feet extending out to the 500 foot contour. Thanks, good question.
