Launched about 8am, think there were 5 other boats on the water this morning. Ran 1 rod on the downrigger, about 40 feet behind the clip and anywhere from 15 -25 feet down.. Started that rod with macks dodger and a kekeda fly in perch. Later switched the kekeda out for a black/green Doc Spratley. Other rod just ran a pink bladed wedding ring tipped with gulp worm, 1/8th oz lead with 60 -80 feet of line out.
Hooked in to a real pretty 17in rainbow on with the Doc Spratley. One other time I had something actually pop the line from the clip, give about 2 good hard tugs after I reeled down to the fish, then came unbuttoned. Line was set at least halfway in the scotty clip when it popped it. The quick feel I had of the fish made me say out loud ... "That's a nice fish". I think it was just the fish gods telling me I have to come back next weekend.
The long line rod actually got most of the action. Half a dozen or more drive-by's and 2 nice fat 14in fish that stuck. The fish are very healthy and fat right now. Watched someone else pull in a healthy fish that looked like it made a few runs on him. Talked to someone else that had some action as well.
Kept my speed between 1 - 1.5 mph. Water temp has risen over 2 degrees in 2 weeks, it was just under 48, where as 2 weeks ago it was just under 45. Action seems like it is starting to pick up.
