We went to Diablo Lake today and fished the Thunder Arm section which goes under the HWY 20 bridge. We started at 8:30am and got done at 12:30pm. We netted 5 rainbows 11-14 inches and lost 1 right at the boat. We had atleast 10 other really good hits but didn't hook them. We trolled with Rooster Tails tipped with worms with only a swivel. We fished to the north of the bridge. Most of our action was near the bridge and just up from there at the creek mouths. The wind kicked up and forced us to go in.
These fish are very good fighters and hit like freight trains. They are very firm and really taste great. The water is cold but the action was real good. Troll slow and don't put any weight on your rooster tail or Panther Martin. Troll close to the shore. The fish were full of small flies. There is absolutely no snow anywhere in sight up there.
Good luck
