My dad and I launched before 6am at the wdfw boat launch. We were fishing as the sun came up. The first fish was hooked in 55 fow, on a wedding ring behind a homemade dodger, long lined with no weight. It fought very strange, turned out to be a 13in 1.5 lb catfish!
We had fairly slow but steady action up top most of the morning for trout, all planters. hoochies and wedding rings of various colors and sizes, all caught fish just couldn't seem to find many kokanee schools. Then.. just in front of the red airplane, in 55 fow again, I caught this hog of a kokanee!
It had my little 1500 spinning reel almost spooled twice!- no more than 5 wraps of my 10lb braid left on the spool!
Caught on a little white crappie tube w/ pink spinner blade 12 inches behind a white dodger, again no weight and long lined. we had one rod at 5-15 feet down on the downrigger all morning but got very few hits.
Heck of morning!
