Good day at the east end of Riffe lake this morning. Tried trolling a squid and spoons on the down rigger..all while my brother was killing the kokes long lining a fire tiger crocodile. After I got the hint I started trolling a perch pattern croc and caught up quickly with a few fish. After a while I finally hit one off the down rigger at 17 feet. Then hit another on the down rigger, but this one was a bit bigger. Turned out to be a clipped rainbow. Finished the day with a boat limit and a nice sunburn.

What part of the lake were you fishing? That is one long lake to cover and try and find fish in one day....lol. thank you.

East end in around 10 to 40 feet of water. Actually hit my final two in less then 10 feet.

Thanks for the report. There are no Kokanee in Riffe Lake though. There are Silvers or Landlocked Coho.

Yes, Landlocked cohos. I guess I had Kokanee on the brain while writing this report. All the silvers were 12-14.

I was curious what the extra insides were. Did not seem to be in the meat at all. Just put em in the smoker a few minutes ago.
I never cleaned a fish with this issue before.

How was the water level of the lake? I want to bring the wife up and try our luck, wondering if I need to bring the bobbers or if we can fish up by the bridge.

Pretty low.. You can google water levels. I want to say it was 758.. With 770 being full. Something like that.

12-14" .....What a bummer!!! The majority of the coho's in this lake go on a 3-year cycle. One year they're 12-14, the next year they're 14-16, then the following year the majority of the fish are 16-18"...

Last year, the avg coho I caught was 17"......like 45 of 50 fish through out the year were 17". SOUNDS LIKE THIS YEAR THEY'RE ALL GOING TO BE SMALL.

Since I have a few knowledgable ears. What is with the clipped rainbow I caught? Was this meant to be released in the rivers, but was unable due to the lawsuit?

Just curious....what is a croc? Wait.....I mean the croc you used to catch fish...lol. And did you still tip it with corn?

Thanks! Did you use corn on that too? I may have to add something like that to my arsenal. And I read something before about there possibly being steelhead in there but I don't remember why. I'll try to research that again.
