Lake Sammamish was good to us this morning. The weather was fabulous and the fishing was hot. Took my niece Amara on her first fishing trip. Pic is of her with her very first fish. Nice cutty, great way to start.
We got lines in the water about 7:30. Fished west side in about 80 feet of water. Landed (to the boat) 10 nice cutthroats in the 12-16 inch range, lost 3 or 4 more, took 4 home for a bbq and c&r the rest..
Weren't using anything fancy, small slingblade flasher, 14 inch leader, green wedding ring (barbless) and chunk of worm. Lines 60-70 feet back and 40 feet down, trolling about 1-1.5mph.
Regs call for barbless hooks which I thought might make things a little tougher but didnt seem to be but it sure does make it easier to release fish without bring them into the boat..
The bite totally died about noon and we were off the water by 12:30. Great day.
