Started out for Tanwax and got a late start so decided to go to Dollof. Been a few years since I fished it, last time ran into a pod of nice crappie in the winter so decided it should be easy to find them this time of year. First two hours searching for crappie ended up just wet lures. Switched gears and started going for bass. Throwing a frog got a few to show themselves. Followed up with a senko. Caught about 7 missed a couple. Mostly 1.5 pounders, a couple that were definitely bigger. Continued throwing my crappie jig and ended up with about 10 stocker trout. Watched an osprey get his fill of trout. Great day on the water with my son.

just a word of caution that happened to me that i'd like to share with you.
several years ago, i did exactly what you did. took my boat to a lake. on the lake you werent allowed to use gas motors.
i ran off the minn kota of course. i just lifted/tilted my outboard out of the water so that it be clear of any contact with the water.
unfortunately i was greeted by warden at the launch and he gave me a warning.
apparently you can't even have it on your boat if the lake has a restriction

Ive heard conflicting info on "gas motors on electric only lakes". 2 years ago, at the lake wilderness opener derby, a wdfw officer told me to to just tilt it up next time, after I had removed my motor and tank. Last year a sheriff said it was even ok to use my motor as a keel when trolling with a bow mount electric motor. ???? Any one else with some hard info on the subject?

This isn't the first 'no gas motors' lake I have fished from this boat. Certainly I understand the concern to protect fragile ecosystems but I think if your making an effort to minimize any risk of contaminating the water by removing the fuel tank and lifting motor out of water ( I take a step further by wrapping lower unit in a construction garbage bag) you shouldn't have to worry about the Wardens. Clearly it seems to be a grey area by the comment from sideburns.

This one has been talked about so many times, it's almost like a yearly continuation.
A few years ago I made TONS of phone calls to county level govt. city level govt. etc.
I won't even go into the responses. The one thing to take away though, is to remember the the WDFW fishing regs are only there for regs regarding fishing. Don't expect the final word on a specific lake's rules on motors.

It is unfortunate that enforcememt will give people "Varied" opinions on the rules.
