Chunk and I arrived with my boat, at about 7am. I motored us down to the opposite end of this lake, where we dropped to 45' deep, on the wires. I ran my doc special, just a double hook setup, with a pair of small beads, tied double, short five inche leader. Chuck, put on a small pink squid, behind a red DD dodger. This fish were pretty happy to cooperate. In id guess a couple hours, we had our ten in the cooler. For early in the season, i guess they are acceptable size. most, being 11-12" fish. Fairly plump, despite manys gills , being stuffed with copods- which are FILTHY LITTLE CREATURES!.
It was a nice morning. typical of summit, glass calm in the am. And, by the time we left, was getting just a little ripple on the water. No holdover trout encountered. The two i kept last week, ate well. I still have ten lbs of last years in the freezer, despite just smoking up about ten lbs, over two runs thru smoker. A person could do worse, than picking summit for kokes. ward, angle, meridian, and clear, i would consider, to be inferior this season. American, summit, stevens, and chelan, being the go to lakes. no word on alder, as yet. tight lines!
