Another good day on Amber. I got on the water at 10:45am and headed up to the north end to meet up with Mike. The air temperature was 60 degrees with partly cloudy skies and a light and variable wind. The surface temperature was 66 degrees, down 4 degrees from last week. The north wind and rain we had in the last several days cooled down the water.
Most of the fish were literally laying on the bottom of the lake in the 25' depth range. I took a bottom temperature at 25' and it was 47degrees. In deeper water the fish remained in the 25' range. That appeared to be their comfort zone for the day.
Both Mike and I had a good day on the water catching several fish in the 18-21" range. All gave up a good fight and appeared to be quite strong and healthy. The green leech proved to be the most productive once again.
At about 4:30pm a small squall moved in from the north with moderate rain and gusty winds. I called it a day and headed toward the launch. After I got my gear all loaded up it started clearing and would have been a nice evening on the lake, but I was satisfied with my time on the water.
