Yeah I know, who fishes for bluegill on this lake (or any lake for that matter). I wanted to take my four year old and just catch some fish, which we did to some extent, we did get into a couple small perch, but I really wanted to find a school of hungry bluegill to keep him entertained.

I'm also very interested in bass fishing this lake, but anyone who runs into massive bluegill schools please feel free to PM me where. We're kayak fishing so don't want to waste too much time in bad spots if I know better.

Also, I've read enough reports on here to be prepared for the jet skiis, but in all honesty, this lake isn't small (i.e. plenty of room for your boat friend to go 9mph and make a large wake to jump, yes I could hear you since you were so close), and trying to swamp a kayak fisherman and his small child is pretty ridiculous. I left this lake disgusted in humanity.

You should take your 4 year old to liberty lake there are thousands of bluegill, , small perch, crappie and dinky bass every were.Perfect lake for taking little kids fishing.

Yeah I've thought about there also, will probably try it next time he wants to go. Liberty and Silver both seem like similar opportunities to catch a bunch of fish to keep him interested, while also potentially land a nice bass for dad. This was my first time taking him in the kayak and he did great, ate all the snacks and made a ton of noise banging stuff around but that's to be expected.

I should say that I don't believe those guys were "trying" to swamp us, just a complete lack of courtesy or awareness. I shouldn't have to deal with a wake of white cap rollers on a big open lake like that. Just super frustrated when I was writing the initial report.

He's a really good kid, and loves being outside. For only a 10 footer there is plenty of room for the two of us both wearing PFD's, small cooler, tackle box and the two pole holders keep them out of the way when you don't need them. It honestly worked a lot better than I had pictured it going.
