Had a great day at Loon Lake with my son. We headed out from Granite Point Resort after renting a boat. We caught lots of fish, lost many more on the way in. I was a little disappointed that some of my store bought squid rigs broke at the trailer hook. I had to tie up some new rigs on the fly. There was a LOT of boats out there today. Pink seemed to be the killer today so I didn't bother much changing up my colours.
I fished with 1-2 ounce sliding weights with 100-150ft of line out.
What did work:
The upper water column
Every bay on the west end of the lake. Trolling east to west brought the best production however we hit into a lot on a few north to south runs. We got the best production hitting the southern points of the bays.
1.5" Cha Cha (pink) with custom UV and Glow bead tied rigs.
Pink Mini cut plug with custom UV and Glow bead tied rigs.
4.4" Double D (Pink)
Garlic (I used Graybill's scent this time)
What didn't work:
All other spots in the lake (tried them all and still got multiple runs of the what did work spots)
The lower water column (150+ feet on the line, was hoping to bring in some macks or bigger kokes)
Blue mini cut plug with custom UV and Glow bead tied rigs.
Anise
Specie: We lost a lot at or near the boat
Kokanee(22) - all under 10"
Rainbow Broods (2)- typical 3 lb size
