The Finck's came out to fish with Jeff again. They wanted to target Kokanee. They even let Jeff get his fish! Then they moved in closer and got some Cutts. Mack's Lures Kokanee Pro Wedding Rings on a 16" leader to a 0000 Mack's Double D Dodger in chrome fish scale baited with Pautzke's Fire Corn was the ticket in depths of 25 to 50 feet over bottoms from 70 to 150 feet deep. Speed was right around 1mph. He got the Mack to bite at 37' feet over an 80 foot bottom. It had a very intact mouse in it's stomach! Another great day on Lake Chelan!

Pretty much getting the idea that those macks will eat just about whatever doesn't eat them first.

i have never caught a mack. nor, easten one. how are they?

They are great on the grill. We pin them in a fish basket / grid and grill them a few minutes on each side after seasoning(do not add anything for moisture. They have plenty of natural oil to sizzle and pop on the grill). There are a few more complex recipes on the web site. Our smoked lake trout is a big hit wherever it is served. Caveats are: 1. Keep them cold after catching or they will soften and spoil. 2. Scrape the loose fat inside the body cavity. 3. DO NOT OVERCOOK (Fish does not stand up to over cooking). 4. If you are going to freeze them for longer than 3 weeks, they have to be vacuum sealed or frozen in a block of water to prevent freezer burn. Enjoy!
