If you are given lemons make lemonade. To a kokanee fisher rainbow trout are lemons. I could not keep them off my lines. So I got a limit of trout as food for my neighbor and a couple for the smoker.

Lines in the water 7:20am and I quit at 10. I tried to keep them off. They came to the hook from the surface (as I was clipping the line on the down rigger) to 35 feet down. I filmed whole time I was out. On the film I didn’t see any kokanee. It is amazing how long trout will follow lures.

It was heavily overcast with clouds and some sprinkles. The air temperature was in the 50’s with the water temp being almost 64 degrees.
I used Wannafish A Lure prototypes lures, Rocky Mountain Bahama Mama 5.5 inch, Dick Nite Pink Spaltter, Hypnosis dodgers , and a blade spinner (to use as a attractor) that I made but it got stuck. Anise, garlic, and kokanee scents on corn.

This concerns me. Many more trout this year than in the past, and significantly less Kokes. A lake will only hold so much biomass. I have not gone back to look at past plants, but something is different this year. Don't know if there is a correlation, but seems curious. Thanks for the report.

Toni, I agree. Lemonade is tasty! Who cares what is pulling on your line? Perch, bullhead, trout, kokanee or salmon; a true fisherman eagerly anticipates the bite, no matter the species. Congratulations and "...they will come."

Billm I believe there has been a death of a kokanee class or 2. The smallest I caught at the beginning was 13 inches. This isn't normal for this lake. Big fish mean less fish.
rseas I really do care about catching kokanee as I am a substance fisher. I can these. I do like the tug but I also like getting them close to home. I have been told I can go to Summit...

Well, dinner for the neighbor and something for the smoker is nothing to look down on. Great job and thanks for the report. I know its been a few weeks since the last stocking but wow. Were there others out catching them also? Seems like anyone who want some easy RB for dinner this is the lake to hit up right now. Dinner bell is ringing!!

Thanks for the report and the video.

The last time I went to Clear, two weeks ago, the kokanne bite was done by 7am. It turned off on a dime, I got four between 5 am and 7 am.
