Several Puget Sound-area marine, freshwater fisheries to close May 1
Lakes that will close May 1 to all fishing include Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish (King County), Monte Cristo Lake (Snohomish County), Lake Cushman (Mason County), and Barney Lake (Skagit County).

Should re-open for a short time during July 16 and Aug 15. Or until Chinook quota is met in area 10. Then the lake could close again to protect Coho.

Marine Area 10 (Seattle/Bremerton) will be open from July 16 to Aug. 15, or when the quota of 1,395 fish is met. The area was closed last summer to chinook retention. Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet) will be open on the same dates as Marine Area 10, but also could close sooner if the quota of 3,056 fish is met.

I saw it the first time I read this report. "before it closed May 1st". I just love the folks on this website that troll around looking for a chance to tell someone they have done wrong. It's sooooo predictable.

I do apologize for not catching the fishing date. Before responding. I have been keeping close tabs on the Coho season closing in Puget Sound and was shocked that had closed Lake WA, Lake Sam, and several rivers for fishing. I was so looking forward to smallmouth fishing in Lake WA, and beach fishing this year. I looked at your picture and thought, nice friggin Smally! It then occurred to me the lake was closed, but based on a recent email from WDFW the season would likely open on July 16. I do not frequent this sight much anymore, got caught up in my own fishing excitement for the lake to open. My mistake.

Crappie are nice, but the Smally caught my eye, nice fish.

@MotoBoat - Thanks for the apology, I truly appreciate it. It takes a real fisherman to admit a mistake LOL. I was also looking forward to SMB fishing lake wa this year along with the crappie fishing. again thanks and tight lines bro.

I was just curious what area in Lake Wa do you fish for crappie? I'm still trying to learn the lake. Any info would be helpful. Hope it opens back up.

@Ki to Life - Look for areas of structure around the Lake, there are plenty of docks etc.. to fish we keep moving and pick a few from each dock until we are ready to head for home. There are literally millions of crappie in that lake.
