Today is the start of my memorial weekend! My original plan was to fish CLE Elum lake but those plans changed quick when my sister and her boyfriend invited me to stay at their cabin off of Wapato Point. No hesitation at all. Packed up the toon and fishing gear and got on the road. Got in late last night.
Woke up at 4:30am and got the toon setup and was fishing by 5am right off the point where it drops off. I have beach access so it only took a few min before I hit 115 ft of water and that where I started my Troll. Wire Down to 35 and 25, first fish hit before I set the second rod. Then the second rod goes off but quickly released itself. After that I somehow lost 5 more fish within an hour and was kissed beaches that sun was coming over the hills. Once it was up in full force the bites were very few and far apart. Landed 3 more and gave up. Decided to drop the lines down to the bottom and look for a willing Mackinaw which I was pleased to see there was at least one. Nothing huge but a nice chunky 3lber. I called it quits around 10:30 to head in and grab some food. Fishing is good first thing in the morning. That's if you can land them!
I got myself a new Scotty C CLAMP manual downrigger. The release break is sooooo much better to maneuver than what I was using! It also come le with 250 ft of wire so trolling for those Macks is much easier.
Gear used: Double D dodger in silver and Pink.
Home tied hoochie with smile blade (hot pink)
Ted's sporting goods pre tied a rig for me with pink glow beads and uv Smile blade
Corn soaked in Anise Krill worked best. Got hits on Prawn/Shrimp as well
Fish were caught from 25-100ft in 150 ft of water or more. They are everywhere!!! More post to come tomorrow morning!
