JoAnn, myself, and our dogs Diesel and Rudy got out to our much anticipated Conconully fishing trip. We were staying at the Liar's Cove Resort, one of the sponsors of this site.

I put the boat in at the state park launch (which is right next to the resort) at 5:45am. A little early for JoAnn, but there were two guys, Mike and Jason, fishing at the dock. They helped land and secure my boat so I asked if they would like to fish with me for a couple hours? Next thing you know the three of us are working our way across the lake to the face of the dam, trolling as we went. I ran out my downriggers with kokanee gear, and Mike used a gang troll with an ounce of lead and a piece of worm.

To my surprise, Mike's rig did as well on the kokanee as my standard kokanee gear and corn. He also got several trout. The trout average from planter size to some nice hold-overs in the 15-18" class. The kokanee were running around 10-12". We hit fish pretty much everywhere. By the time I dropped them off to pick up JoAnn at 7:30 we had a half dozen fish and had missed at least that many again. Good fishing!

With my guests off the boat and JoAnn and the dogs back on, we returned to the far end where there is a 42-48 foot deep oval area. I figured this may be a good spot to concentrate our efforts on. I also switched up gear to just a couple rods on the downriggers and fished them deeper, 25-30 feet down. This solved the trout by-catch issue and in about an hour we had our limits of shiny kokanee. Back to the dock and cleaning station, then a day of R and R and kicking back!

The lower lake (reservoir) is beautiful, surrounded by hills/mountains and green trees. It's super peaceful and relaxing, and Liar's Cove owners Gene and Linda couldn't be nicer. This is a very family oriented resort and I can highly recommend giving them a visit, especially if you have young kids. Gene and Linda have lots of fun activities going to keep them busy!

Looks like they are carrying a bit more size on the upper lake. I'd that what you have found? May have to make the drive up from okanogan tomorrow and try it out.

Man the Kokanee are biting all over the state. I was going to ask, what is the new boat ? Looks roomy, take the whole family.
