I was the first boat in the lake Thursday at 5:45ish but was soon joined by four other boats including NWFR's own Toni, legendary angler and lure-preneur. Waved hello, then we all trolled around all morning, somehow managing to not run into one another, and over a 5 hour period, I caught and released a couple small Rainbows before landing this beautiful Kokanee at the east end of the lake. I took his picture just before the sun went away, and the wind whipped up and rain came pouring down. I didn't care because I just caught my first Kokanee of the year! So it was a good trip except for when the lake claimed my 12# DR ball and snubber! Aargh! That was in the shallow south side of the lake. I had to snip the cable.
So I fished the rest of the morning with the remaining DR and interestingly, the Koke hit the shallow pole I set up to replace the busted DR. I had line weighted with a 1/2 oz sliding bullet, then 24" leader to the Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger, 12" leader to an orange pattern hoochie w/spinner, tipped with shoe string corn, scented with garlic and trolled 60 pulls behind the boat at 1.3 mph.
Tight lines and good luck out there!
Eddie
