Ouch! I tried but I couldn't do it. I got skunked. I had guests in town from Kigali, Rwanda, Africa. Saturday was the only day available for them to fish.
We put in at Connelly Park just before noon. We ran down lake a mile or so to get out of the side wind. I tried pulling plugs as boat control was much easier at a faster speed. Ran flicker shads and shad raps in multiple colors. No luck. Switched over to bottom walkers after an hour or so. Slow death, orange and black combos, chartreuse worm harness, gold blade, no love.
We pulled off and went to lunch in town. As we ate the rain stopped. The wind died down too. As we crossed the lake at I-90 it looked inviting. I asked my guests if they wanted to try again. And I got a resounding yes!
As we were preparing to launch at Blue Heron we were approached by a couple out for a stroll on the pathway. He asked how I liked my Lund 1850 Sport Angler. I told him I loved it. Especially since Mcfisherson13 of this site, kindly loaned it to me for the day. As we chatted I realized I was talking with fishdoc of this site! He gave us a few pointers and off we went. Soon the wind picked up again. Bottom walkers and worm harnesses of various colors managed 2 bites, 1 hooked and ZERO fish to the boat.
As I lookout the sunny windless day today the water is calling. But, work and family need tending to.
